Re: James LaBrie
Last I checked, his C♯2 wasn't fry...
I thought the F2 in "Octavarium" was just a mistake on Axisundone's part...everyone else says the passage bottoms at G2. There's an alleged E2 in a live performance of "Burning My Soul", though.
I don't think there's that much to discuss for this guy, though...there's already been several videos about his range that more or less cover everything.

Great singer. Gets way too much flak.
That live Octavarium A5 is definitely full.

You sure? The D's sound full, but when he slides down it sounds very fryish. Its close enough really that its probably not outside his range.
Hm, I had thought there was an F in there as well, but E2's even better.
I think the discussion would have more to do with whether his head voice does in fact extend up that high. Like I said, I'm pretty confident it does, but that he also uses falsetto on some things (for some reason).

There's no way that A5 is anything but full.

Re: James LaBrie
If Ray ever makes a reappearance, he'll be able to clarify for us as to where the full C♯2 is...I don't quite remember for myself.Sherick wrote:Maxim wrote:Last I checked, his C♯2 wasn't fry...

I think it's safe to assume that one is full voice.
He hits another INSANE G5 at 6:04.

Yeah, '92 was a good year for him.

Re: James LaBrie
The fact that he chickens out on all notes above F♯5 in every other version makes me doubt this clip's credibility, though...and don't even get me started on the range gap that this would give him!Sherick wrote:Yeah, '92 was a good year for him.
