Awesome high note singer! Cool Sadly, he has the same problem like many other tenors and high tenors: Not enough lows. Neutral

Yes, this guy has a really high voice, really effortless F#'s in the early days of X with no strain. As you can hear e.g. here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qCtM2ns3DEQ

This video shows off his range really well. He hits some incredibly high screams from 4:20 on and then tried to go beyond his lowest note, G2, but fails. Laughing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dltolN7qo2s&feature=related

First video as really feminine-sounding singing by him and shows that he really is a high tenor, damn high voice! Grin

Damn, he goes high in the second video! Shocked And those high notes are amazing! Cool

Damn, his voice was so effeminate back then... listen to how effortless the E at 6:55 is.

I'm going to start doing a range video for this guy. Check out this F5 at 2:01. Shocked

His voice cracks at the end of it and goes into the 6th octave in a very powerful falsetto.

Ahhh that was impressive for sure. And the F#5s in "Time Trip Loving", a bit thin but full for sure. I'm not too sure how full anything above G5 is in that Improv vid, good full F5 at 5:38, and full G5 at 5:52-ish I think - pretty strained because you can tell he's taking himself up to his top notes. 6:18 is a weird sounding note, maybe a full G5.

So I'll give him G2-G5, considering how he went for the E2 on Improv but failed I'm leaning towards high tenor. See if you can find any strong chesty notes above G5 Cool

Laughing I know, that vid make me crack up.

I guess the Bb5/A5 could definitely be falsetto in retrospect. Very strong and solid sounding still though. He often ad-libs these kinda "tribal" sounding screams in concert.

Definitely a high tenor imo. Don't think I've heard him go into the 2nd octave outside of that video. And his speaking voice is pretty high.

As for the notes above G5, will do. Cool I'm sure he's gone above G in full. There's plenty of material to wade through with this guy, huge output of solo stuff as well as X-Japan's catalogue.

If he can just about force his way up to G5 at 45-ish he's bound to have been able to go higher when he was younger.

Very easy F5's and D5's in this song. Pretty impressive.

He sings most of this song between Eb5-F#5. Laughing

I'm just listening to an album Toshi did in 2008 called "Earth Spirit". Not a particularly good album but it's insane for high notes. Tons of chesty F#5's, G5's, F5's... some of the best you'll ever hear. He hits mutiple notes like this in some songs. I'll upload some of this stuff.

G#5 at 1:40. Sounds full as well. I think that is another really chesty one at 2:17 as well. Shocked

EDIT: Actually he shouts several G#5's throughout this performance.
