Highest and lowest notes in full voice

Post  Goblonaut on Tue Nov 23, 2010 10:33 pm

Highest notes in full-voice:
B5, as hit by Peter Sundell and Freddy Curci.
B♭5, as hit by Chang Yu-Sheng, Akira Ishihara, Adam Lambert, Geddy Lee, Peter Sundell, Tony Harnell, Klaus Meine and James LaBrie.
A5, as hit by Daniel Heiman, Mark Slaughter, Benjamin Kowalewicz, Sebastian Bach, Jimmy Barnes, Bobby Kimball, Toshimitsu Deyama, Rob Halford, Robert Plant and Kevin DuBrow.
G♯5, as hit by Ray Gillen, Graham Bonnet, Brad Delp, Andre Matos, Stevie Wonder, Kai Hansen, Rik Emmett, Jeff Scott Soto, Joe Elliott, Johnny Cook, James Brown, Michael Jackson, Hansi Kürsch, Michael Matijevic and David Lee Roth.

Lowest notes in full-voice:
C1, as hit by J.D. Sumner.
E1, as hit by Billy Gibbons and Peter Steele.
F1, as hit by Ville Valo and Freaky Fred.
F♯1, as hit by Phil Anselmo, Anthony Kiedis and Barry White.

The names are listed in order of how convincingly full said note is. This is only males, but we could add a list for females too in the future, once someone shows me clips of the alleged notes etc.

J.D.Sumner seems to have one of the lowest voice in our planet.

The high note thing bugs me... Has any male hit soprano C in full voice? (Chang Yu-Sheng?)

For males and highs, Geddy Lee, Adam Lambert, Chang Yu-Sheng, and possibly Benjamin Kowalewicz are way up there. Chang Yu-Sheng's Bb5 is the only one I'm 100% on though but it was short and strained so I'm not sure about him getting a C6.

Where does Adam Lambert hit a full Bb5? I've heard some Bb5:s by him but they are not all full reckon. What about Peter Sundell?

Lambert's Whole Lotta Love Bb5's all sound like falsetto notes to me.

Not sure about Bb5 for Lambert but I'd say A5 which is still "way up there". Not sure about Sundell at all...

I think Lambert is definitely able to up to A5, not sure about Bb5. Neutral

James LaBrie's A5 is definitely full, and I've heard one full one by Robert Plant as well.

I was never too sure about J.D. Sumner, or if any of his low notes might be fry. Jowox claimed to find a full-voiced G♯0 by him at the beginning of this year, but I doubt that it's full. As far as runners-up go, there's Billy Gibbons with his full-voiced E1, and that one guy from the video game preview who spoke down to a full-voiced E♭1...

That guy, as far as I know, turned out to be Andy Serkis with a pitch-shifted voice.

Forgot about LaBrie. What was Robert Plant's full A5?

Pretty sure Toshi shouts his way up to A5 in "Namida No Kanata Ni".

Check the Plant thread; there was one clip from Jowox's video where he did a glissando up to B♭5 and you could clearly hear the switch to falsetto after the A5. I'm pretty sure it was some performance of "How Many More Times".

Regarding the guy on the DMC trailer who spoke down to Eb1 - I've been thinking, any chance that it's Richard Ridings? He's been featured in other games from the same developer, and have you heard just how low he speaks in Castlevania: Lords of Shadow?

Doesn't Cedric Bixler Zavala have some full notes in the A/Bb5 range btw?
